Prefabricated bridges

SEPSA has revolutionized the construction of bridges using prefabricated elements, reducing the total weight, the construction costs as well as the execution, improving the quality, the cleanliness and the aesthetics.

MEDIUM HEIGHT BRIDGES

This system does not require land with deep foundation. Prefabricated unbroken capitals with candeleros under the axis of the abutment and pillars; as abutment, retaining walls and eaves sections double t shall be used; as pillars prefabricated hollow columns are used with capitals over which and by means of integral stratums the cajon joists with alettes are founded. The alettes of these joists allow to save on the centering, due to the fact that on the mentioned joists the compression-bearing tile is filtered.

GRAND HEIGHT BRIDGES

This system is applicable for the construction of bridges on deep ravines. Experience has taught us that one of the most difficult problems to solve is the construction of the columns or walls that are part of the buttress, because due to their weight and dimensions they cause a great deal of execution problems when performed in situ, obtaining as a result elevated costs and long periods of time for the construction.

In order to solve these issues, SEPSA has developed and constructed buttress of more than 42 m of height consistent of hollow columns of prefabricated assembled concrete, and in transportable and mountable segments due to their dimensions and weight.

In the assembly as well as in the thickness of the walls of the columns the efforts that the mentioned columns will be subject to have been considered, as of the moment of their manufacture, transportation and assembly, and also considering the sharp and still loads, the permanent and accidental loads during their effective lifetime, principally due to winds and earthquakes, and not forgetting their weight and dimensions that must be in accordance with the capacity of the mounting equipments.

For cranes with a capacity of 115 tons., we have discovered that the column with headstock (up to 4 m of integrated wideness), can measure up to 15 m long with a rectangular section of up to 1.5 x 2 m in its transversal section. For longer columns, it is convenient to manufacture them in two or more prefabricated pieces connecting them together, and the connection to the foundation is performed by means of procedures that SEPSA has developed and tested in laboratories, constructed and patented.

CAJON JOIST

It is a presstressed concrete element that can by manufactured with different heights.

It is manufactured using concrete f’c=350 kg/cm2 or with an aggregate of ¾", presstressed (K-270) fsp=19,000 kg/cm2 in thorons of ½" and presstress steel fy=4,200 kg/cm2.

Among the main advantages of these elements, we can mention its lightness due to the sections efficiency and its great capacity to resist the torsion caused by the asymmetry in the application of the live load. When the double projection constructive procedure is used the centering is eliminated. It is used in the construction of highway bridges and pedestrian bridges, due to their aesthetics and the easy it is to construct, once the elements are in place.

ASHTO JOIST

These are structural presstressed concrete elements manufactured with concrete f’c=350 kg/cm2, presstressed steel fsp=19,000 kg/cm2 in thorons of ½" and reinforced steel fy=4,200 kg/cm2, The AASHTO joists may be pretensadas, postensadas or combined. We recommend to use the pretensado, due to the fact that it is manufactured in our plants where we use metallic molds, that provide a great finish and the concrete is treated with vapor, what allows daily filter cycles and as a consequence increases the productivity. The aforementioned elements are used principally for road bridges and overpasses.

It is a presstressed concrete element with capacity for several loads. The Double T section is commonly used for mezzanine systems, parking lots, industrial roofs, bridges, frontage walls, etc. with skylights of up to 18m.

DOUBLE T JOIST

The width and height of these pieces may vary, but may have a maximum width of 2.44 m. and a maximum height of 81 cm.

For manufacturing the section Double T elements the following materials are used concrete f’c=350 kg/cm2, presstressed steel fsp=19,000 kg/cm2 in thorons of de ½" and reinforced steel fy=4,200 kg/cm2.
